Eagle Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge

Eagle Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge Overview

Construction on the Eagle Road Ped/Bike Bridge begins on October 1, 2022. This bridge will provide a safer way for walkers and cyclists to cross the North Channel of the Boise River along Eagle Road. This project has been in the works for 10 years, with focused federal funding efforts during the past 5 years.  In April 2022, a contract was issued to begin the construction of the Eagle Road Ped/Bike Bridge. The City of Eagle originally earmarked $1.9 million for the project, which grew to a final total cost of $3.2 million. However, through the smart application of federal dollars, it is now only costing Eagle taxpayers $190,000!

Project Updates:

Pile Driving delayed, to begin week of November 28th

The pile driving originally schedule to start the week of November 7th has been delayed to November 28th.  The contractor will begin placing the crane for the pile driving the November 21st with pile driving for the piers within the Boise River on the 28th.  Pile driving work will take 5-10 construction days and will be quite loud. The work is scheduled to occur only during daytime hours (7 am-6 pm) during the week (Monday-Friday), with no evening or weekend work. The contractor anticipates the work to be completed in a single week, but we have additional days scheduled just in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Trail Closed October 1, 2022 - May 2023:

For public safety, beginning October 1, 2022, the north channel greenbelt underpass will be closed at Eagle Road behind the Hilton Garden Inn (red line), and detour greenbelt traffic (blue line) as shown in the image to the right. The south channel greenbelt and tunnel (green line) will remain open during construction. It is anticipated that these greenbelt closures and detours will be in effect until the bridge opens in May 2023. When complete, this bridge will better connect Eagle's northern and southern communities, benefiting our city and all who recreate here in Eagle.
